SQ3R - Five Step Process: Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review

Reading and comprehension of college textbooks is an important component to your achieving academic success. As with most tasks, a positive attitude is vital! If you approach your study with a positive attitude you are more likely to succeed.

SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read , Recite, and Review) is a valuable five-step technique to increase reading comprehension/retention of textbook material and even reduce you time studying. It allows you to better understand the chapter from the first read through. Because you can understand the material better initially, study time is used to reinforce the knowledge you have already gained.
